Blackfin Tuna are found gulfwide, in open water offshore.  It will venture closer to land than other tunas, penetrating green water.  This is a smaller tuna and has the typical fusiform, tuna body shape.  The back is a dark metallic blue, the sides are a silvery gray and the belly is white.
